The Village of Willowbrook is a long-standing member of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Community Rating System (CRS). As part of the program, the Village’s local floodplain management activities are reviewed through an audit process by ISO (the same firm that rates fire departments). Last fall, the Village completed the annual review process with ISO and has been awaiting our score from FEMA.
On Friday, June 29th, the Village received notification from the Department of Homeland Security, FEMA that Willowbrook was upgraded from a CRS Class 8 to a CRS Class 6! CRS classes range from 1 (best) to 10 (worst). This high rating will qualify property owners in town for a 20% discount on their premiums for flood insurance (if they carry flood insurance).
Please contact Village Administrator Tim Halik at (630) 323-8215 with any questions on the NFIP/CRS program.
