As a result of the storms and heavy rain that hit town on Wednesday and Thursday (4/17-4/18), many instances of flood damage were reported. To assist residents, the Village and Republic Services have extended the special garbage collection program for an additional week. Next week (4/29 – 5/1) on their regularly scheduled garbage collection date, single-family residents may place an unlimited volume of acceptable refuse at the curb without any garbage stickers. For the purposes of this program, acceptable refuse is defined as flood damaged materials. Items NOT accepted include: Single items greater than 50 pounds in weight, white goods (appliances such as refrigerators), electronics, household hazardous waste (paints, chemicals or liquids). Any material that does not fit into a can or bag must be securely tied in bundles not exceeding 4 feet in length and 2 feet in diameter or 50 pounds in weight (this includes carpet rolls). Residents are asked not to block their garbage toters with the excess garbage. YARD WASTE will NOT be collected during this week. This will allow crews to concentrate on hauling away flood damage waste.
Please be advised that this program is only intended to assist residents in the disposal of flood damage materials as a result of the recent storm. No other routine bulk items will be accepted. Please be aware only residents that have their refuse service provided by Republic/Allied are eligible for this special collection.
