On January 17th, the Village of Willowbrook will kick off its 50th anniversary celebration with a Birthday Bash to be held at the Village Hall at 7760 Quincy Street from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The event will feature tours of the Village Hall, children’s entertainment including face painting and a clown, as well as music and birthday cake.
There will be opportunities to meet past and present Village Officials, local politicians and FOX Chicago News’ sports anchor Corey McPherrin and meteorologist Tammie Souza, formerly with FOX Chicago and now Chief Meteorologist with WTSP in Tampa, Florida.
2010 marks the 50th Anniversary of Willowbrook’s incorporation. Founded on January 18th, 1960, the Village grew from a 167-member group called the Ridgemoor Homeowners Association that decided to incorporate as a village in order to be able to guide the development of farmland which surrounded their homes.
Today, Willowbrook is a small village of approximately 9,000 residents and is known for its exceptional services, low taxes and convenience to the metro Chicago region. Located at the nexus of Route 83 and I-55, it’s a short five mile drive along Route 83 north to the regional business center of Oak Brook and the I-88 corridor, a quick 15 mile drive east along I-55 to Midway International Airport and only a few minutes from Argonne National Laboratory. Willowbrook’s prime location and accessibility to many regional destinations makes it an attractive location for residents and businesses such as Turtle Wax, whose corporate headquarters are located in Willowbrook.
